in the front all the information in the front and nothing in the back black and I financially such a huge way space nowadays there's more information that we need to include in ever before because not only do we need to include our regular contact information but we need to include how people can reach us on our social media net so by using both sides other card were able to do just that so I'll always remember to include your name your company name your email and your phone if you do business via fax and you need people to know that number include got and if you have a storefront on office our PO Box will you accept mail make sure to include that as well making easy for the people looking at your card to find you but like I said these days we also need to include our social media haha son my car to a particular I have how you can find me on my YouTube channel my website Facebook LinkedIn and Twitter the next even gonna share is one thing I learned a workshop a few years ago on how to create me perfect business card and I don't have hi that if on my cart but what it was if you use glossy paper like mine right here you might want to consider not using it in the back and then including ask where with the word notes over it so that while you're talking to someone you can write down what it was that they wanted to contact you about in the notes before you hand it to them or it gives them the opportunity to write down notes about your conversation and I when they go home at the end to the night after networking function where they've got thirty forty fifty to sixty business cards to look at they can remember what it is that they wanted to talk to you about the next it also came from that workshop and it was to include a photo of yourself on your business card now I how the the real estate industry down that pretty prevalent Lee and I think it's a great idea I don't see too many other industries incorporate that into their business cards but I think it's another great way to make a connection with the person looking at your cart again most the time when you're handing out your car you doing it because you had a conversation with somebody we've been at a networking function and now not only do they have all your information I am and notes that they role I want from your conversation but they have a picture to help them remember whole day spoke to a lot of time even with the best intentions we get home from our networking function and we don't immediately input all the contact that we met that night and synthetic it takes weeks such as it could take months and if you don't remember when you pick up the car what it was that you talk to that person about just thinkin how we can happen happened to me I should happen to you you end up dumping that card but they have something to cheer their memory like a photo or no on their conversation they're more likely to make that connection with you keep that connection with you and then contact you the next I'm going to share is cleave leave jet your business card professionally printed I and all that OfficeMax and Office Depot they sell baskets where you can print it out on your home printer the mail or in person handed to them that was printed on a home computer that day simply toasted right into the garbage and never even looked at it and it broke my heart when I looked into the audience because I knew that many people in the audience did just back arm but that was then and this is now nowadays we have access to so many different axes prisoners online on the corner weekend hello and welcome to my life first screencast in now my series on using Adobe InDesign today we're going to be doing is using InDesign version cs How to design a business card using AdobeВ® InDesignВ® CS6 !!! we will be creating a business card and not only are we going to you use InDesign to you know do some actual design work we will hop into bowls Adobe Photoshop cs6 Adobe Illustrator cs to explore some other concepts that we need to understand to create not only a beautiful design but a design that will print well when we bring it to the printers best print service so for example yes I go into in designing golf filed so create a new document keyboard shortcut command on the back or control and on PC GE a new document dialog box that we have InDesign a in design lets you create rigs and Paul a a document with the intent as treating it sending it to the web or digital publishing so business cards being printed matter we will choose Print one page only and the page size in now in design we have a whole bunch of different standards size is sold letter Z half by eleven legal is
tabloid is you have European sizes you have half sizes you have compact disc but we also have a traditional US size business card so the business card is fine we have the a option love choosing portrait mode which would be to cart standing up or landscape mode which is like damn columns are a a very useful saying in design in general when we have a fair amount of space to use structure considering that a business cards for small will go ahead only use one column but we will change the default march in size from
what now notice that we have the Lord chain icon depressed over here its way it's dark and if I tab out as the top box automatically all the values will be changed to the value that I changed manually that's what the a chain does it makes all the settings same now because we are going to be sending this to the printers it's important to click the more options bach here and take a look at the bleed and slug now slug is not something that will you know be very important for us it's an extra area where people can include information for the printer the very few applications actually let you define the area for the slug and people who have been a graphics industry for a long time especially those who used to use cork are not necessarily familiar with the slug it's actually become much more well understood since Adobe InDesign came out and there's actually the slug area right document dialog box what is important for us is the fleet now the bleed is the part as the document that you will prints onto a.m. so that when you cut your business card at exactly the right size that color actually makes all the way to the edge now for example if you are going to design a white business card in your book printed on white paper bleed is not very important but if you're going to put a picture on part have your business card and you want that picture to go all the way to the edge you actually have to print your business card on AIM piece a paper slightly bigger than what you want as a final product so that the pictures printed bigger Zen the final card and then once the ink is dry the printer actually cuts them down to the proper size and actually cut away a little bit of color picture and that is what we call lead now the bleed value is and a to manage so I can put in . I n Indesit understands I in for being inches and as I tab to the next box because once again my chain icon is clicked over here it converts it automatically points so that's perfectly okay and as you can see over here I have my business card the black line that's their is the actual edge loves the paper the red line is where the bleeders so if I'm going to place a picture for example and I want it to go at least to the edge here I'm going to extend it all the way to the red line so that when the printer cuts he can actually cut through picture a the purple and pink lines in the middle the car that's my margin it's important to respect your margin because there's no guarantee that as the printer actually prints the card that it's always going to mean remain dead-on centered sometimes it wiggles a little bit the paper itself is is paper it's not super super strong so sometimes a little stretch a bit is sure there's lots of humidity it may be a little bigger then if the papers totally dry so there it's an organic material so there is some what have you know a.m. variants indeed the printing process and you have to allow for that it's perfectly normal so we will add a little bit have extra picture just in case something goes wrong now once again I'm zooming out so we can see the business card over here and what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to put a logo on one side as a card and I'm going to put some text information on the other side this is going to be a one sided card only and what I'm going to do using gonna keep it very simple so down here I am going to you pick my text to or the type and I am going to click on the margin over here I'm going to drag a text frame so that it feels the right hand portion %uh my cart now I was just going to invent some information here so I'm gonna call the year the client the person who has the car like on John Smith now John Smith a lives on
Main Street of course I want that to be a capital dish and I world make him live let's say in I don't know Boston Massachusetts and his postal code will be or zip code for the Americans I live in a one two three four five six now design is not only about you know technically making sings appear properly it's about assigning a certain amount love importance to you the more important things and that is signing a visual importance to its alright now John Smith's is as important as his mailing address over here so I actually want to make him look a bit more imports old doubled the size of this name and I am you know I might sort of bring this down a little bit so it's not floating all the way there at the top and I will actually put shears information a bit lower their sold this is starting to look you know a bit more fancy so we've got disinformation here all insists perfectly legible and let's not forget that we have to be able to call him so let's say
the to one to
sup for number so right now just information that we have placed on the business card these are facts now for those of you who have paid attention to the products in the Adobe Creative Suite Linux software adobe illustrator for example is the sector based illustration program if you've ever used it you know that you can draw squares and circles control lines and these lines are basically mathematical little definitions in other words you draw a circle in Illustrator and in the background Illustrator is doing all the map that says this is a circle and you can print it at any scale because the math doesn't change so whether the circle is an inch wider foot wider feet wide still circle fonts are basically the same thing they are sector based drawings that a type designer has taken hours upon hours to literally hand draw each character in the entire alphabet so uppercase and lowercase characters all the punctuation a all the digits and also you know also two symbols imagine you know the the monies sign the pound sign the Asterix you know hash mark in and everything else so it's actually a lot of work the beauty ovett is because it is a vector-based drawing you can scale your type any size and I'll come out perfectly fine that is exactly the opposite the concept of Adobe Photoshop sold the shop is a pixel editor and pixels our little tiny squares so the squares look good at their original size you may you let's say make them smaller but you can't make so many bigger are within let's say maybe percent could probably get away with it but after that enlarging pixels is a big no no so if I want to place let's say a a logo on the side this card I have to you options I can either go into you Adobe Illustrator and create a logo there which is the recommended way cuz you never really know how big that world is going to be used obviously it's gonna be very small business card but what if they wanna make a banner to hang on the side building thats easy with illustrator illustrator art worker skills very well in Photoshop you have to know what your final product is in create the file specifically for that so if I jump into Adobe Illustrator sheer and may create a new file a what I want to do in this case I'm gonna keep it really simple I'm actually going to make a document that is eight house by and is just going to be something that looks very much let's say like the the Japanese slacks I'm basically scummy a red circle ago pretend that it really looks like a like a love so I can't draw circle over here and I can go into lets in my color picker in the toolbox over here I'm gonna make the middle red and I am actually gonna take away the black line now considering that I want this to be a logo I'm going to come back over here and I'm going to make my text weights and hoops made a mistake there change I did not d select my circle Dez circle the take my textile and I will simply take logo so that starting to look like about the right size hit is black I'd did sailed wait so I've selected it I will come over here sick white and there you go one really really fancy logo now if I save this and I'll actually go put this in a specific spot and Eric we have seen the logo now this is an eight half by eleven pager got a very big logo Shearer and if I go into my finder and angles find the spot where I ceived its on my computer my local file is actually very small you can see it down here it is megabytes considering that it's an eight-and-a-half by sheet of paper a makes is not very very big compare is at artwork to exactly the same thing in Adobe Photoshop sup going to Photoshop ago in News I am going to make it a US sized piece paper so letter-size ate half by eleven DPI which is what we should have when we r printing and I will call this logo as well now I'm gonna come into you for shopping going to select spread I am going to choose a the selection tool that his round and I am going to basically do exactly the same artwork so as you can see here it's starting to look good very very very reminiscent to what they did telustrator now go back take my text tool once again I'll click over here and I will take them world logo so I have this document it's basically pretty much the same thing fun sucking exactly same but that years besides pot I'll save this file as a a certified which is quite standards for going into into print answer to file down here I have to make color profile and I will go six go back to the Finder take a look at my logo dot ATI
Magus take a look at the same load on built in Photoshop
huge its over times the size up the other one and yet the print quality should be exactly the same the in Serie the illustrator one should be cleaner but it is a DPI file it is you know in perfect to alignment with industry standards so when you're doing you know design a lot love the technical aspects in a boil down to what software are you going to use to do the job logo design as I mentioned before because we really have no idea where the logo it's going to be used in the future we treat the most versatile file possibles we build it illustrator not that you can't do it in Photoshop but Photoshop is pixels it's limited to the size that you made it right now it's an eight and a half by eleven it will treat beautifully but try and print something the size is building it's not going to work out so back to our InDesign file I all is at was leading up to the idea that we have our InDesign file and we will place an external documents so a picture picture the logo and will place that into the layout over here so what I want to do in the first case is go to Z Adobe Illustrator file and put that basically on my a.m. this mister yet whoops I made a mistake there so let me just do that because I did not d select this for textfree I want this I want this cursor to appear here so that I can actually place the logo on the side so when you go into the place command just make sure that you don't have a previously created box selected because it will replace whatever's in there with what you're trying to place so if I come over here notice that my logo shows up at its real size which is huge way to bake remember I design something a half by eleven time business card now the beauty love Illustrator is that I can take let's see the edges box over here I can make that basically shit and I can even right click on that box and going to the feeding a.m. contextual menu and I want to fit the content proportionally inside that box and you see that you know InDesign automatically comes in and does all the math for me and places it perfectly also notice that I'm Way too far I am going beyond the Black edge over here and going beyond the paper I'm even going beyond the bleed and my a logo would be cut off some actually just move overlooked but and I'm going to keep it within the margins so the moral of the story is that when you have artwork coming from illustrator you really do not have to worry about size a.m. because it's vector-based artwork it will fit perfectly fine and you know even if you are in large in it or reducing it because it's vector-based you basically have nothing to worry about you play set you mi amigo look pretty and you keep on going the fact that this might be something like maybe
percent its original size because it's vector-based information that is completely irrelevant now if we switch hats and we decide to move this off to the side creates a year a new text box not text box that picture box sorry frame a a.m. not take frame I will make it in the century the same position over here and I will place my Photoshop once again I will right click on yes I will go into sitting and I will still life frame proportionally more to cart proportional my local still there okay it is working okay but look what happens when we go in and we take a look at the links palette and this is where ifs you know you know what you're looking for you can spot trouble GE actual PPI over here so the pixels per inch saved in the file is that's what I need to print but because I've made my logo so much smaller than the size at which was that three hundred Paul pixels per inch has become in eighty which technically is way way way too much I am you could get by you know almost
you know about percent more but after that the more you go up or in fact the more you go down to go down too far you lose quality but you go up too far you lose quality as well and the other thing to pay attention to you is that the color space owes exists logo is in RGB RGB is great for things that end up on the screen but terrible issue trying to go print so to trick is too take a look at what you doing and shaker out just how big that picture has to be now for example if we take wine guide in weekly sit here in illustrator and we take another guide over here this is the Wits that I want my logo to be at its widest you can a let's say moves the the ruler by grabbing the top corner over here moving that aligning its on the guide and we can see that right now we will put this in inches to make rather simple and are width is just shy of about an inch and a half so let's keep it let's say image in a quarter just to you makes things easy on ourselves so if I go back to Photoshop this is what I want but it's ate half by eleven I want it to be an inch and a quarter white so I'm going to do is in Photoshop I go into image size: and I can do it in inches I want my wits to be an inch and a quarter but because there's a little bit await space on either side do it image so little bit of extra notice that my 24 megabyte file will now become kilobytes so radically smaller than the first still DPI just a lot shorter so it has been resized if I take a look at it at a hundred percent it's much smaller and remember that RGB the color space was wrong a I'm going to flatten my image to get rid v the text layer that was urs who had text floating on top of the red circle such slightly image and I will convert it to CMYK RGB is lights so like balancing of the paper but seem like a are the angst actually on the paper going to the printers we need colored thanks click K and now I will just save this file go back to my hard drive take a look at me my AI file Adobe Illustrator still meg my a CMYK TS that has been reduced to the proper size
makes a little bigger not by much and now if I go back to Photoshop notice that there's this little warning sign over here on the edge of my picture box tell me that something is wrong and it is echoed by the same a.m. warning symbol inside my links power so it means that the original source file has been modified and if I double click that it will update noticed that the little symbol of years gone there was a ser redrawing of the preview on screen I come over here at my color spaces CMYK and my effective PPI right now is so it has you know is sort of slightly reduced inside this window but I can always change that I can come back lets it to my sitting and center it we're still my friend proportionally or fit my content proportionally rather so that its resize to the proper size right now it was fit before still image is kind of like foresight to be a little bit bigger you can see that it's gone from three hundred the actual PPI to an effective PPI
I will say that thats okay for now it's percent which is okay ideally you should have
dead-on but for the purposes have today will say that it's good enough so right now I have my logo on one side I have my text on the other and the only thing I want to use I want to had a little bit of color so that my car you know how does a little bit have designed cents to it and also I want to take advantage in fact that I want to use the fleet so putting a background color is really not terribly difficult we create a box and we go into the color picker and we choose a color so for example I can come it's a over here and choose something are probably still in the reddish area so somewhat have a relationship to my my red logo and I'll take away the actual take with that the black train there so I can do this over here for example in C Knoll outline so no stroke around the box and I will move this square this frame rather on top of my design and right now because I created it after the logo a InDesign understands it as being on top but I want it to be behind so once again I can right click and I can use the arrange can to sent that box to the back and shares my logo over here you'll notice that the logo comes in with a white background I can actually play with that aunt you know define the relationship between one placed element and another with different options so for example we have the logo TF which is here's a logo AI which is on the edge we have you know the tax and we have the rectangle so what I want to do is I actually want to play with my a I file over here and I'm going to go into something called its let's find it where is it it is d transparency obviously you can tell that to I have been using other applications for quite a while and sometimes some the things that I used to do that same work express kinda feel effete median other applications but the what I want to do is I want to come and I want to change the qualities love this box over here and their ago so it was in the right click I was looking droplets so effects transparency and basically I want to gears this layer if you will channel preview so that the you know what is on the the layer ever seen its white I wanted to disappear so wake not darken anything kennett so dark n gets rid of the white it changes the color of my read a little bit boats you know I can always try dear friends options over here to see if they give me what I want and you know this is part of the creative process over here you are going to you you know do exactly what you want artistically by using different combinations of features inside the software so let's say that you know just to keep things simple I'm going to use it dark and and I'm happy with that so what we have is we have the actual business card remember that the outlined over here the black outline is the edge of my paper the red outline is where the bleed must go there's no bleed on this area over here there's basically white that goes all the way to the edge so there's nothing to be worried about their but because I want this over here and I want this brownish color to go all the way to the edge of my card I have to put it at least all the way to the bleed line which is in red I can go beyond it that's not a problem but if you were to stop short of it I the printer could have some problems with it might be very difficult for him to you hide it without giving you a little sliver white paper something like that so you can be generous there's nothing to worry about as long as you respect the area of the lead you should be okay so right now I'm going to say that I've actually finish this business card the easiest way to send this to the printer is to actually make and Adobe PDF now in design is a great program for tree eating PDF's because its Adobe technology so you know to Adobe products one creates the other without any problem whatsoever so in the presets you have high-quality print which is actually not for going to the printers it's more for doing high-quality color photocopies Lesar output something like that good quality but not color separations and actual you know income paper PDF X is et cetera for industry-standard PDF stat are built to perfect specifications among other things are good for archival a are archiving digital documents teaching simple I'm just gonna choose Press quality as in printing press so Press Club it's perfectly OK and I will be saving this in the same locations so inside my folder with my two lokos so I'm gonna call this business card and I will simply
now because I chose the proper preset over here I went to press quality the export PDF box comes and it has the press quality setting over here so it is a preset but most listings that are here you will basically leaves alone there's there's no options to go inning change but what you do you want to do is you want to have the marks and bleeds and these are the pieces of information if you will that the printer needs to be able to do a good job in other words you check all printers marks the crop marks bleed registration color bars all of this information will be printed around the area the business card so for example the printer knows where to cut so that all the cards exactly the same size they will have let's say the registration marks which are little symbols so that when the printer prints with four bank's site and magenta yellow and black to their all perfectly aligned one on top of the other and the other thing that we need to do is we have to make sure that our lead information is actually being used so use document please settings and what we put in when we went new document is there automatically so we don't even have to do anything and then you just hit the expert but so believe it or not we're actually done if we take a look inside our business cards this is what our final product looks like so we have the actual business card GE's colored boxes at the top are references for the printer so when he has to print a pure black he will measure this black over here to make sure that it is dark enough same thing for the White has to be pure white it can't be let's say slightly gray and they have measurements for all the tones in between so if the printing presses going a bit too dark kiln same thing that's going too late it will be obvious when they checked this over here the other color bar the the other bar is for colors so we have yellow magenta site and blue which is a mix of Scion Image into trine which is Scion in yellow and so if there's wanna the being said is not printing in the proper proportion these colors will be off so once again your printer will be aware of that GE mark center over here these are called the crop marks so when the printer has to cut your cart she's basically gonna follow these lines as died and cut through that these little target things are the registration marks this is what the printer uses to be able to print is for peaks in perfect alignment they have to completely match up with that and this is exactly what we can send to the printer it goes straight from PDF to the printers there's no need to send the InDesign file anymore it is simply a PDF based workflow so as a summary remember that you want to you use CMYK elements inside in design so you print with printing kinks not RGB light and your PDF must be pre quality and include all the printers marks that for let's say graphic design covers most of the mistakes that people will do when they go to the printers for the first time RGB elements inside a print project improper bleed and no printers marks so that's the beginning she can member that you'll do fine thanks for watching

services consumables sales today seventy percent of the market with traditional political reform of testing marketing and sales property types that's what the seventy percent of the customer using the pictures today thirty percent of the market today is manufacturing support and used parts and I would discuss it a bit later the manufacturing segment is actually going faster than the prototype segments are we seeing more and more companies that manufacture and use parts and is that your doctor rate in USA and Canada which means that we have great potential here in Canada obviously going to be our potential customers there's a growing demand for the design companies need concept modeling functional modeling and marketing and sales for the types that will reduce the time-to-market and the development cycle manufacturing big demand for jigs and fixture customized you can picture the manufacturing tools and died functional prototypes and even if you spot me taking second north right in students to start their own businesses not to make a product the first prototype of their product in order to decision much early get some and even using politics are other small sleep disorder that have the consumer product that you know they need a bigger part they need more quality materials we use services as well and of course education in with you looking at products and sparks industries such as what we are always architectural animation and entertainment electronics aerospace automotive medical medical equipment and many more can be our customers and are using today occasion what our customers are using the form so important functional prototypes design verification that part of bikes and used parts in repins for example in which such about this week probably but anything can be customized with the ending is the best solution payday injection molding prototype made it so you actually can't win them all in today and use it for more of that injects about a hundred under parts from a single malt pictures for the manufacturing floor and we can set and entertainment parking lots of movies made with their trip yesterday and even shoulders well that's a growing industry medical devices in in surgical technology today and resolution of the positive winter in bed tents dramatically in the last few years of the day certain sense can plan and prepare for surgery which will be painting organs that they can get from MRI scans since the industry that another fast-growing industry efforts with the painting ecology year for all its owners so there's nothing really thinking they're still more than four ever we in the much faster than meaning the ship used to know we are we are being affected by twenty painting on a daily basis so every every product that we we are touching have a part of the design of the manufacturing of the spotlight would be our speakers iPod iPhone car seats car dashboard all being used companies used with the painting in the design cycle or during the site this week for the painting of anything that related to musician and complex parts and of course global you want to know vinyl that's that's the right spot painting high-volume manufacturing it's still going to be more efficient go with all the morning actually painting is gonna be patient if we need new complex geometries and no clue where quality of so why customers are using today less of me politicking so no product being with me painting is much cheaper than any other option today after so when when you have a house painter or if you services usually gonna be cheaper faster and more convenient than the only actually get your decision early in the design process and you can test your design faster also what you can do is asking people for five different design in the same time tonight when you have all of the morning but you're going to the painting for politics and money actually Asian companies increasing the quality using the time to market for the development which is very important for the can be compared with most of the companies you services before the House printer which is very important for all together to start their own business trip by for example they spent year before they purchase their perspective today they have three pointers in as we said adoption rate and I slower than in the USA most of the companies they are looking for services and not ready yet companies that purchase printers continuity of services for overflow and different technologies we have different technologies it's hard to find knowledgeable and your applications usually what happened company's purchase percent of their needs and then the day the rest will still use of course they have over w services well there are parts and human and imagery that you cannot do with other technologies but only with anybody actually that's another big advantage of this industry let's discuss about some examples we talked about prototyping and the value politicking for companies I would like to talk about this example agricultural market this is a company name out there will be signed quite serious and they used to very costly for them it's not about between and box and the thing about this market very sizable business they usually develop the product in the all the spring there the testing period is very short only doing this in this area and then they're all the product out so they have between five to seven weeks before the holdout in the past the used one of the time in seven weeks in today which will painting not only save money about Dr Palatine by most value of them was the saving of time instead of one where they can get all that they can test vote on the tax five weeks and a decision much so that's that was the most of them using repeated reporting trips and pictures both the manufacturing applications let's not talk about these G its genesis of your hands in your hand made up of three different parts the you know the regular way or the old way of every different parts and let's compare this is Jay from their traditional way of the division will be approached you need for parts numbers apartheid months and I'll or drawings for all the attacks while inventory and the list goes on and on it it's a part of the text I really painting is a much easier process and much easier basically what we need is one number and we can get out of every types of the day and then we can pick apart very easy process which as an alternate project with us so the benefits of union jobs in picture with repainting the first one of course there will be time and cost saving between nineteen percent reduction instead I percent post-production well streamline the process so we eliminate drawings we minimize the euro and payment requirements and become a test project and of course the digital rights we don't have to put anything on the shelf we have everything in our computer and once we needed just paint it doesn't have to be on in this finding different operations as well just stepped up to save money on the interest in this example four-digit pictures again from a BMW they were looking to do a jeep have them to mount be logo on our views do you imagine that which was not supposed to know me and they have to compromise on the shape but which will be painting basic need the freedom of thought so there is no limitation shape also withdrew the painting you can make it more legitimate and lighter so you can do it with sparse feeling that produced the way I seventy percent and you can change that be more economical than using it no it's not a damaged so by by switching repainting aluminum they save
days went down to 15 days and the cost went down all and enforced without any real work depending on service or repair works in any kind of order so the summary of benefits of the three cases that went through the BMW picture picture it's like percent reduction of ninety percent actually we will production and it's more safe and dynamic views echo there with you the 44th every time which was the most important to them or just percent reduction in cost seventy percent fewer parts that need for this prototype and installed customer value proposition and the picture itself action and 74% ok so now we understand a little bit the the value that is this week and bring to customers let's drill down to the business of how can we start a successful business and money to do business the first thing that I always recommend customers target marketing potential market don't go and say you know I'm going to provide services or the rest of the east and unity you need to decide what your customer needs you need to understand exactly what the patient will will be you know and and the advantages of using for the pinnacle those application for example if we target the manufacturing industry automotive industry so we know exactly what application the automotive industry needs be doing that we will look for the right technology providing knowledge that will answer these both needs and those pains at the same thing with medical same thing with education so it's important but what the market you know after that it's the right solution right solution it's the right technology we have this kind of technology of the SLA SLs the College of Technology in technologies you deposition modeling FDM technology we can call it all the time what will be the right technology for the industry and going up then of course I need to get our need to have the right side of the card or even magically fix bicycle need money to train my employees and we we can't help it you know we have training in house and on site but is imported my the people used to people who know how to take advantage of statin treatment and provide the right service to the customers and the last things of course marketing and sales so you know the right launch event social media 2010 have which is an online service what's I and so we can help job in marketing and sales and business strategy let's talk about the real life example this will be a better one of our oil and gas so this this was made other ABS plastic and the size of the estate
inches exactly's from the Y exist and on this year so what was our overhead what will be over had mixed up with the printer let's assume that buying a printer for gay and looking on five years appreciation beverage used hour per year which is basically all I was so the cost of printing our will be the cost of being divided by the wall which is entitled to an hour apart we started with ePrint depending on the specific in the west of the seven hours we have of course it might be faster but you know let's let's take this exam and then let's open our direct path which are the opinions of the average cost for the material is ultimately became and this material this
cubic inches for the material and one or two because of the monetary
and because of the support material would be wanting to see and then the labor we have some labor printing and a little bit of hospices overall the good thing about living in a very light on labor most of the stuff you know and Sri even the supporting all is so the the the the Labor Department minutes and we can't wait for you for about an hour so the labor here is per hour total cost is
let's assume that we we are looking to get
thats how we gonna crisis part of the red see how we can justify the equipment based on this part in that doesn example of posters are either going with that but based on this part assume that we are in customer who needs a part which led to an envelope of teenagers in a variety of them plus a BS polycarbonate anything high-tech material the guilt and we can go to
В°c so we estimate the training costs including cleaning station and shipment to be all the spending for five years but maybe a little bit less than or grandma average margin for this part is
revenue minus also just discussed for a number of monthly printing out to break even all be specific part you wanna wait hours a month now the potential is much higher right so we have it would take six days a week hours a day he said involved in it and it's about overnight other weekend and you don't have to babysit printer so let's get the maximum margin from days of week is aiding already minus our months because it's a margin of error is multiplied by well we get a revenue of profit of year which meant that the repeal of the investment going to be a little bit more than a year but it's very close example of the conflict with a specific job being so you know it's it's important you know when you want to start a business to have a partner in supporting will be here in job being a good infrastructure the pic and support and we already doing a few customers starting in a very successful and other customers we are enjoying that we are not in the services business but we have not yet entered Academy of more than customers across Canada six offices so we can help with the consolation we can help with the launch strategies in person marketing business and marketing support well technical support all over Canada thing we offer finance financing and leasing options so basically we can cover the whole needs that you might have to make sure that you have a good good good good I'm sorry PCs and and you started correctly that you get the right product for your industry that you go after you get the right training for your people because the right software that you need to run the printer and maybe even six ties will will will be close to you know if he needs services applications specific applications so weird most human beings that out and of course a better case something goes wrong and it's a bigger printing we know you know to summarize our webinar which was short but I hope it helped a little bit further information there is high and going for this point market price of the meeting is going huge bother on the most people are you going to try and and see how they can incorporate this technology outside the natural already in capital equipment right now so they are going to start with services this because this growing market share their high margin in this business and we expect that those market will stay there for the next week low overhead costs are cnc-machined people program and the consumer product that it will be this year those printers are commercial printers their hands free even the post office in the country so its low overhead costs and increase your business multiple multiple sources of revenue that big advantage not simple machine shops or or or the soviet looking to get the kind of revenue sources in dallas also what we see from other customer that when when they were introduced repainting it happen to boost their current pieces so it basically drive more traffic to the torrent business that they have for example the UPS Store United States today that it produced anything and it helps them to ramp up their businesses well and even ship them or more people coming to the store today topic and something their county despite being of eighty you know customers like companies that being innovative and using new technology in developing the next thing with the next Industrial Revolution so it's always be ahead of the curve in providing innovative solution customers and of course the company and in the end of the competition is important we always gonna be innovating always want to be out of the competition and this is a good start that's all for now thank you for joining me my name again is to be finkelstein and the director of the printing and copying will be glad to be anyone like more information and help us thank you very much have a great day

English English - Hey guys, so a little while ago, I made a video about how to design a resume, and I got some requests asking if I could make a video How to Design a Business Card !!! about how to design business cards. So, that's what I'm doing right now. So, let's switch it up a little and start at the end. The final step is going to be to make a sweet music video about how awesome your new cards are. в™« Take a look at my card в™« My business card photography prints в™« I work so hard baby в™« 'Cause I'm a YouTube partner crazy в™« But how do we get to that point? So, the standard size for business cards is three and a half by two inches. It's really not very much space, so you need to figure out what purpose you'll be using the cards for and what information you need to put on the card. Will you being giving your cards to potential customers, to potential YouTube viewers, to someone who you want to hire you for a job? Think about what you want the recipient to get out of the card before you even sit down to design it. No matter what your use case, though, your business card should always match your other branding. Your website, resume, cover letter don't have to be identical, but they should look like they all belong to the same design family, whether that's consistent logos, photography, color scheme, typefaces. If someone picks up your card, they should be able to associate it with all the other material you put out there to represent yourself. You can keep it simple. That's totally fine. Or keep it more playful, whatever you think best represents you. So what information do you really need on the business card? It'll vary for everyone, but pretty much always, your name or company name. Maybe a slogan. And then just contact information. Email, website, twitter handle, YouTube channel. Depending on the size of your card, I recommend cutting it off at about four or five lines of text. But if you do include more, just make sure it doesn't get too cluttered. If you're a YouTuber, you might want to consider including a photo of your face on the back, since your face is kind of what you're selling. Just make sure it's a high quality photo and not a screenshot from like a And you know, there are so many different possibilities for how to design a business card, that it can get really overwhelming. But just try to stay focused on what it is you want to communicate, and hopefully that'll help you come up with some good design ideas. Just make sure that your layout and typography are impeccable. Business cards are so small and so minimalist that you really need to put a lot of thought into every single element. Make sure every word is spelled and positioned and kerned perfectly, because any mistake will be the only thing you're able to see when you're holding
cards in your hand. Also, don't be afraid to use small typography, just like I mentioned in the resumes video, no high school teacher is making you use
point Times New Roman anymore. Try a nice San Serif, maybe at six points, and just print it out to make sure it's still legible. Big text on a little card can just look horsey and amateur. So, bring your type down, and leave enough white space that still looks balanced and professional. Also, you could consider personalizing your cards somehow. I've seen some companies who just order blank, generic cards and then get each employee a rubber stamp so that they can just make as many as they need. Or you could sign them, or you could write something. In one of my previous card designs, I actually wrote what I was to the person I was giving it to, whether it's a graphic designer or a YouTuber. And everyone appreciates getting something unique and personalized. So now that you have your card design, you need to think about how many cards you actually need. If you're going to networking events every week, maybe you do need to buy cards at a time. But don't get sucked into those "Five million cards for "five dollars" deals if you're not actually going to use that many cards. Instead, put that money towards a quality print shop where you may get less cards, but the quality will be so much better. And you won't be representing yourself with cheap materials. If you don't put in the effort to make high quality business cards, what will make anyone else think that you do quality work anywhere else in your life? Just like you might buy a nice suit jacket or get a nice haircut to present yourself well to the world, your business card reflects on you the exact same way. There's actually this great blog post from awhile ago where this guy got the same card printed by five different companies and compared the quality and cost of each. Moo.com came in on top for quality, of course. They're all I ever use for my business cards these days. They are pretty pricy, but they do these really cute mini cards, as well as these really nice, thick cardstock cards. And they do this thing where you can print the same front on all of your cards but have all different backs. So, for my current cards, I got some with my face on them and then some with my design and crafting work, so that I can give them to different people, depending on how I want them to remember me. And finally, no business card how-to would be complete without mentioning those gimmicky business cards that always show up in those " Best Business Cards" blog posts. There's a thing inherently wrong with these types of cards, but if you decide to make yours like that, just make sure that your concept is strong enough that it's worth putting in the extra money and effort. Be aware that if your card is a weird size or an uncommon material or has lots of die-cuts or folds, that they can get lost or ruined when people drop them in their bags and desk drawers, so just make sure they're durable, too. And don't let your concept overwhelm your design. Don't get so obsessed with the gimmick that you lose sight of the core purpose of a business card, which is usually to communicate contact information. So, I hope this was useful for you guys. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions, or if there is anything else you want to see me make a video about how to design. If you're new here, you might want to check out the video I made about how to design a resume or the last video I posted, which was all about funny color swatch names. And if you want to see all of my graphic design videos, I'll have a playlist linked down below. Don't forget to subscribe for new videos every Tuesday and Thursday. And thank you all so much for watching. I'll see you all next time. в™« Take a look at my card в™« My business card в™« If you want my number в™« You'll have to ask because I didn't put it on the card в™« Bonus craft project: I was cleaning the other day, and I was really sick of the color of my tissue box, so I covered it in silver foil tape, and now it looks like a spaceship, and it's all shiny and adorable, and I love it. I might do more videos about how to personalize your tissue boxes, so let me know if you want to see that.
